Businesses are accredited at ‘INVESTORS IN THE ENVIRONMENT’ AWARDS

Laura Backhouse, Senior Project Co-ordinator at Investors in the Environment, is impressed with the level of commitment shown by businesses who have taken part:

“We really applaud the work of all our accredited members and we hope more businesses will join – it’s the fastest growing environmental scheme in our region for all the right reasons: immediate cost savings, attracting new customers and most importantly, reducing the business’s environmental impact. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

The Investors in the Environment Awards Ceremony took place at the Park Inn in York on Thursday 5th September. The scheme is managed and delivered by Yorkshire Energy Partnership who is celebrating its twenty year anniversary this week.

LOCAL COMPANIES INVITED TO SUBMIT EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR NEW ENERGY-EFFICIENCY PROJECTS

Companies are being invited to submit an expression of interest for the installation of energy-efficiency measures across the North Yorkshire area.

Coordinated by Yorkshire Energy Partnership and funded via the Energy Company Obligation, the project will involve a substantial amount of work insulating houses with solid walls or hard to treat cavities and installing energy-efficient boilers.

YEP is a leading not-for-profit sustainability company, owned and supported by nine North Yorkshire Local Authorities. The local authority brands are powerful in attracting customer interest in installation measures, and we use them well.

Businesses must provide their own Energy Company Obligation funding. Businesses of any size can express an interest in the work but they must be accredited. We are looking for reputable, conscientious companies who can demonstrate extensive experience:

1)      Of installing solid wall, loft and cavity wall insulation for domestic customers; and/or
2)      Installing boilers

 How to express an interest:

We will consider all expressions of interest but if you would like to discuss the project informally, please contact Simon Winch at Yorkshire Energy Partnership at
simon.winch@energypartnership.org.uk or by phone on 01904 545 020.

INTRODUCING THE GREEN DEAL: How can it work for you?

INTRODUCING THE GREEN DEAL: HOW CAN IT WORK FOR YOU?
The government’s Green Deal offers householders free or subsidised energy saving products and services.
It covers all sorts of improvements such as boiler replacements, insulation and solar panels which can be installed at little or no upfront cost, then repaid over a set period of time through your energy bills.
The key incentive to taking up the Green Deal is that your repayments should never be higher than the money they save, meaning that you should always be better off for joining the scheme.
Yorkshire Energy Partnership Chief Executive, Hugh Cripps, is keen for people to realise the benefits of applying for the Green Deal:
“We’re excited to be able to offer support and guidance to our customers who are interested in the Green Deal - it’s a real breakthrough for householders who recognise the benefits of energy-efficiency, yet can’t afford the initial outlay. Knowing that customers should always be better off financially, due to reduced bills, will make this a popular scheme.”
How can I apply?
Call us on 01904 545 020. Our advice team can help you to choose the best improvements to suit your home. In the first instance we will give you up to date information about grants and deals in your area, then provide you with a list of Green Deal Advisors who can assess your home and recommend which type of service or installation is most suitable before passing your details on to an accredited installer who will carry out the work.
